Mariott Convention Hotel

The Mariott excels at everything you could want, especially if walking distance to the Convention Center is your major reason for visiting. A shuttle bus is provided for the morbidly obese or exceptionally lazy, and complimentary alcoholic beverages between 3 and 5pm every day provide an excellent and economical way to get in the party mood. Omitted from the Fodor’s Guide out of sheer principal, Mariott Manager Guy Linney said when they built the hotel “we didn’t want a gap wider that a mosquito’s pancreas between us and the conventions”.  He added how disturbing it is that people all over the country decide to convene here. Hyatt Hotel

The Hyatt epitomizes the big-corporation-in-a-small-town feel than defines the Riverwalk, and although it’s way too far from the Alamo, it’s easy to catch a cab back to the airport. The Tequila Third Tuesday event, on every third Tuesday in the summer months, offers 50-cent Mudslingers and Riverrat Rumrunners, a major draw for the locals who otherwise never visit downtown. 10% discount with coupon.

The Drury
