Horses are a popular feature of the San Antonio Riverwalk

What an excellent way to celebrate your birthday. Horseback riding is popular among San Antonians, and is a traditional way to leave Austin, especially for teenagers looking to start a career in waitressing in one of the many worldclass Riverwalk restaurant, like Hard Rock Cafe or Rainforest Crab Shack.

Horses can be rented by the hour, day or tri-day at the Pearl Brewery and driven along bridal ways that flank the main section of the Riverwalk. Once finished, deposit the animal at the animal sanctuary and glue farm just parallel to the famed Guenther House. Horses cost as little as $15 an hour or $45 a day, including a compulsory 15-minute driver’s education video. By law, riders must be 21 or over.

Q. “Thinking about moving to San Antonio…can I get around without a car?” Kyle R

f-150

Sometimes clouds are seen chasing F-150s.

As Father Brimley says, “If God has wanted you to walk, he wouldn’t have give us wheels.” Texas, the biggest state in the Union, is also the most car-friendly, featuring the lowest gas prices in the nation and manliest range of trucks from Riverwalk Ford. While there is an excellent downtown public transportation system, this mainly exists for people without social security numbers or drivers licenses is not recommended.

To buy an F-150, exact change is required. For downtown residents, there is a park ‘n ride facility where a riverboat will ferry passengers to their workplaces for $1.29 each way (exact change required). In answer to you question, you will need a car on the Riverwalk.

Q. “Is it true, are the railtracks in San Antonio haunted?” Lily S.

One of the most frequent questions we receive at the Visit The Riverwalk offices is “What time does the Riverwalk open?”. But this is another popular question with visitors looking to find a spooky experience! Legend has it that in 1958, a bus loaded with school children was parked on a railroad crossing while the driver stopped to text his friends. In the middle of sending lolz to his BFF, a train smashed through the the vehicle making a simple trip to school a yellow tomb of tragedy.

Today, cars that park on the tracks are mysteriously pushed downhill by unseen forces of the ghosts of small children when the driver says “Bus driver” in the mirror three times while texting. The phone then rings but nobody is there but the laughter of the undead. This chilling, genuine experience is now part of the “Haunted San Antonio Ghost Vacation Spooktacular” package, available for $149 from Tourist Information. Applicants must supply own car, which also helps answer the question above.

Q. “Is the Alamo worth visiting or just a tourist trap?” from travelkpr.

Long lines outside the Alamo

Long lines outside the Alamo

In a recent VTR poll, 89% of visitors to San Antonio believe the Alamo should try harder and provide more facilities like Six Flags, Sea World or the Riverwalk. Although famous for defeating Mexico in the Battle of the Civil Union, the Alamo is remembered for its American heroes and their valiant sacrifice.

But it doesn’t feature the selection of unique restaurants, bars and gift shops that are hosted on the Riverwalk, and managed by true American heroes dedicated to serving guests and Riverwalkers alike. The San Antonio CVB now provides a free picture of the Alamo to Riverwalk guests, to save the walk. We have also provided a free picture if you move your eyeballs to the right.
