Descending the town’s famous Food Needle takes 120 seconds in a elevator or 7 seconds when the window cleaners make a mistake. But only with the exclusive walking option can this thrilling 700 foot descent take most of the day.
With 1200 steps separating you from terra firma, it’s the most exhilarating way to exit the town at the top of the tower. This is one adventure for the whole family, and while there’s no ADA access is considered to be quite challenging for even the most skilled wheelchair operator.

Riverwalk Segway and Waxy O’Reilly’s have partnered to produce their own Combo-Pass which features 3 rounds of Happy Hour drinks with a 45-minute (to 2-hour) Segway tour of the Riverwalk, followed by 2 rounds of additional ‘Post-Tour’ drinks.
O’Reilly’s celebrates the Irish history of the river with $4 Irish Carbombs between noon and 5pm daily – enjoy a couple before boarding your own personal Segway vehicle. The Segway, endorsed by local celebrities similar in stature to Tommy Lee Jones and Summer Glau, races up to 8mph around the river, taking uneven sidewalks in its stride.
To drive a Segway, you just lean forwards and backwards – and forwards again! It’s fun for all the family and provides the fastest way to zoom around the river before returning back to O’Reilly’s.
