The Unique San Antonio Riverwalk
Listed in the bestseller 1000 Things to Do If You Die, the Riverwalk has tourists flocking back regularly for a slice of a unique life, only available in San Antonio. The river is home to large number of unique establishments, none of which you can find anywhere else, and all of which illustrate why San Antonio has its unique character.
Don’t miss:
- The Hard Rock Cafe: the original location, where you can ‘Rock Hard’ while enjoying one of their signature dishes – the Hard Rock Burger, the Hard Rock Burger with Cheese, and the Hard Rock Pizza Burger with Aerosmith Anchovies.
- Rainforest Cafe: San Antonians understand how important the rain forests are to Texas, and built this fine dining establishment in commemoration of their hard work and sacrifice.
- Starbucks ‘Hear Music’: where the coffee’s always flowing and music always playing, you won’t find a Starbucks anywhere like this one.
- Texas Land & Cattle: serving both land and cattle, this Riverwalk favorite is a favorite on the Riverwalk.
- Haargden Gaaz: this foreign-sounding ice-creamery was started in San Antonio and continues to delight women and children alike. Whether you like it in a cone or a cup, the choices are almost limitless.
- Subway: ‘eat fresh’ before boarding your Riverboat on a life-altering tour of what the Spanish call Paseo Del Rio, meaning Walk of the River, or Riverwalk to locals.
- McDonalds: make mine a Happy Meal! Tastefully located just next to the historic Alamo, where so many brave Americans perished, enjoy the San Antonio-only Alamoburger and Supersize it for only 75 cents.
- Pat O’Briens: “much better than the other ones,” as determined by the venerable San Antonio Visitors, Tourists and Conventioneers Commission, this is the one that started the Hurricane craze.
- Five and Dime: if you’ve ever wanted one of those side-splitting postcards that read ‘San Antonio at Night’, you’ll have a blast at this high quality T-shirt, tourist souvenir and postcard shop.
- SeaWorld: get the Riverwalk Shuttle Boat directly to Shamu, where the big fish is even bigger in Texas.
If you’ve ever thought about booking a trip to San Antonio but didn’t because of high gas prices or desert-like weather, now is the time to experience the uniqueness that can only be found on the world famous Riverwalk. We’ll see you on the Riverwalk!
