The excitement is in the air as San Antonio celebrates its well-deserved Best City Near Austin award for one year running. Beating out strange towns like Kyle and Buda, San Antonio believes the award is partially due to its selfless helping of victims of Hurricane Katrina, many of whom were offered free hotels and tickets to SeaWorld. Get ready as well count the list of exciting Things To Do on The Riverwalk…

1. The Alamo. (Most popular in Top 10 Things to Do!)

Move from Marfa  in 1927 and rebuilt in 1965, the Alamo is a historic site in its own right, for which respect must be paid in the form of donations. Nothing makes a San Antonian prouder that taking uninvited relatives round its ruins for 15 minutes while waiting for the breakfast menu to end at the McDonalds next door. Jesus died for our sins and many brave Texans died for our freedom, fighting illegal immigrants who are still trying to steal our jobs and marry our children into deviltry. This building has something to do with that.

2. Seaworld. (Off-Riverwalk)

Most famous for when the killer whale attacked its trainer in 2006, San Antonio celebrated the big fish’s right to awesomeness with a lengthy campaign entitled Don’t Screw With Shamu. After the surviving trainer was publicly shamed and immediately fired by Budweiser, attendance has spiked in recent months as the audience ponders ‘who’s next?’. Find out yourself and see if Shamu goes psycho on your visit.

3. San Antonio International Airport. (Near Riverwalk)

A manly town needs a manly airport, with two big huge terminals hanging below a massive, tall control tower. SAT, as it’s known to its fans and everyone in the airline industry, is the fastest way to get to Austin in evening traffic, or return to Mexico if you were just visiting relatives. Featuring nationally recognized brands like Starbucks, waiting in the arrivals lounge has never been so much fun!

4. The Riverwalk. (On-Riverwalk and #2 in Top 10 Things To Do!)

As the video shows above, the Riverwalk is the most exciting activity in San Antonio. The Riverwalk is so universally known as being the center of Texan Culture, that Texas turned it into a State Park. It’s legal to drink on the Riverwalk from open containers, which makes it easy to run on tabs and keep souvenir glasses. The Riverwalk offers something for everyone, especially if everyone is over 21 and drinks alcohol to excess – with food, drink, martinis, beer, cocktails, music and beer, if the Riverwalk had anymore, it would be the Riverrun! Don’t miss the draining of the river in January, where the town holds its annual shopping cart count on the river bed, and extracts protection money from local businesses during its mud festival.

5. The Aztec Theater. (On-Riverwalk)

Opened in 2006 for nearly a year before closing due reconstruction, you can still visit the retail area on the Riverwalk level. With at least one shop always open, the state has protected the zone as the country’s Most Quiet Retail Area, and is hoping to introduce endangered noctural animals. In the darkness the Aztec, you can almost hear the retailers going bankrupt in their minds before they do in reality. Help them out by offering to buy something, but make them work for it – like having them hand-carry the item back to your hotel.
